A small warning
I always worry about giving a recommendation and people going off to a restaurant having read my glowing report only to be bitterly disappointed and come away questioning my sanity.
It is a fact that restaurants can have a bad day and some staff can spoil a meal and leave a bad taste in the mouth.
So the recommendations are a personal opinion with a strong emphasis on facts. If the roast vegetables are charcoal I will feel short changed and say so.
A point to consider is that the area doesn’t have tons of restaurants for an evening meal and often close on Monday and Tuesday. Some don’t update their websites so give them a call and book early.
As a quick run down….
The Australian pub
Two chinese takeaways
A kebab place
Numerous cafes including two Portmeirion cafes.
I will add more featured restaurants and cafes but in the meantime you won’t starve in Porthmadog!. These are the highlights.

Banc Restaurant
Located at 72 High Street. Porthmadog this used to be a bank building. I’m not thrilled with the decor and the two occasions we went there the food was uninspring. Not been back since the burnt vegetables incident. Some people have had a better experience so give it a try. We may have caught them on a bad day. Call on 01766 515495 as they get busy.
